چکیده

The quest of clean and sustainable energy has grown rapidly all over the world in recent years. Among renewable resources available, wind is considered one reliable, environmentally friendly, green fastest-growing source electricity generation. This generation accomplished through turbines. However, efficiency these turbines still very limited unsatisfactory. primary goal this study to evaluate performance a Savonius rotor turbine terms aerodynamic characteristics, including torque, torque coefficient, power coefficient. design blades varied its effects observed. simulation models are developed using modeling software known as Solidworks 2021 then generated into Ansys Design Modeler R1 define fluid domain. In total, three distinct modelled while varying diameter height rotor. performed FLUENT R21. A constant speed value 9.2 m/s been used throughout simulation. was carried out transient time flow with upstream speed. results have shown that coefficient increases TSR highest consensually obtained at almost unity (0.9) TSR. Comparing models, Model 2 generates followed by 3 1, respectively. power, nearly similar conclusion drawn.

Simulation Based Approach to Predict Vertical Axis Wind Turbine Faults using Computational Fluid Dynamics

Use of on-line fault detection techniques is integral to successful operation and maintenance of a wind turbine installation. The deployment of condition monitoring systems needs to be structured and sensitive to likely faults that may occur. In this work effects of blade faults have been simulated to understand sensitivity of blade faults on torque output. It is expected that this will help in...

Computational Fluid Dynamics Prediction of a Modified Savonius Wind Turbine with Novel Blade Shapes

The Savonius wind turbine is a type of vertical axis wind turbine (VAWTs) that is simply composed of two or three arc-type blades which can generate power even under poor wind conditions. A modified Savonius wind turbine with novel blade shapes is introduced with the aim of increasing the power coefficient of the turbine. The effect of blade fullness, which is a main shape parameter of the blad...

3D CFD Analysis of a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine

To analyze the complex and unsteady aerodynamic flow associated with wind turbine functioning, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is an attractive and powerful method. In this work, the influence of different numerical aspects on the accuracy of simulating a rotating wind turbine is studied. In particular, the effects of mesh size and structure, time step and rotational velocity have been taken...

Slotted Blades Savonius Wind Turbine Analysis by CFD

In this paper a new bucket configuration for a Savonius wind generator is proposed. Numerical analyses are performed to estimate the performances of the proposed configuration by means of the commercial code COMSOL Multiphysicsr with respect to Savonius wind turbine with overlap only. Parametric analyses are performed, for a fixed overlap ratio, by varying the slot position; the results show th...

Effect of rotor blade position on Vertical Axis Wind Turbine performance

In this paper a numerical study is presented with the aim of evaluating the performance output of three Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) configurations. Here using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) a two-dimensional Multi Reference Frame (MRF) approach has been used to perform steady state simulations. For this purpose an inlet velocity of 4m/s has been used along with rotor blade Tip Speed R...
